The Latrobe Health Assembly frequently encounters concerns about food insecurity in the region, especially among children and young people in educational settings.
Social Ventures Australia were funded to undertake an initial research project to investigate the experience of food insecurity in education settings — examining its impacts, drivers, prevalence, current interventions and barriers to support.
This research identified several key findings and recommendations requiring further exploration and co-design solutions with community.
The broader impacts food insecurity is having on children and young people's social behaviour, educational and health outcomes are profound — potentially leading to long-term impacts.
