Creative Latrobe
Creative Latrobe builds on the power of placemaking and tactical urbanism to bring about lasting change to spaces while also contributing to a safer and healthier city. It aims to support improved mental wellbeing, safety and local pride by changing the perception of public spaces across the Latrobe Valley.
This project set out to deliver bold art activations that reimagine underused or avoided spaces across the Latrobe Valley. Localite — a Melbourne-based placemaking and tactical urbanism firm — developed design concepts to transform these areas into vibrant community assets.
Their process explored creative art, lighting, and infrastructure interventions, with each concept tailored to site-specific challenges while strengthening community connection, safety, and local identity.

Latrobe City Council is currently installing designs according to the concept drawings at three underpass sites across the Valley.
