What is your connection to the Latrobe Valley? Do you live, work or play here?
I am a proudly born and raised Morwell resident, have taught at many schools in the Latrobe Valley and am now at Mirboo North Secondary College as Leading Teacher - Inclusion.
What inspires you to work with the Latrobe Health Assembly?
As Chair of the Hazelwood Mine Fire Recovery Committee, I advocated for and helped establish the Latrobe Health Assembly. The health statistics for people living in the Latrobe Valley are some of the worst in Victoria and Australia, and I know that education, support and advocating for better services are the ways we can make significant changes to this.
What brings you joy outside of work hours?
Outside of work hours I attend many medical appointments for my own health needs and disability, attend Pilates classes and hydrotherapy sessions, sing in a band, and catch up with family and friends.
Where is your favourite place to visit in the Latrobe Valley?
There are so many lovely places to visit in the Latrobe Valley it is hard to choose. I have some favourite restaurants in Morwell and Traralgon, and if I have spare time (extremely rare) I love to head to nature in places like the Morwell National Park.
What gives you hope for the future of health and wellbeing in Latrobe Valley?
I know that by providing people with support and access to good health services along with education about how to make better lifestyle choices, people will adopt better health practices. By making health a priority so it's visible and part of daily discussions, we can make positive improvements to people's health.
