What is your connection to the Latrobe Valley? Do you live, work or play here?

I live, work and play in Latrobe Valley! I am a born and raised Gippslander, growing up in Yarram. I moved to Latrobe Valley over 15 years ago to be closer to family, and to start a family of our own. My husband Julian and I have 3 children and we are very involved in community and sporting groups.

02

What inspires you to work with the Latrobe Health Assembly?

The work of the Latrobe Health Assembly inspires me because of the possibilities and opportunity to do things differently. I am passionate about health and wellbeing, with a background in Intensive Care Nursing and Health Promotion, and truly believe that enabling the community to design and shape health initiatives that best suit their needs leads to better and more sustainable health outcomes. I am so inspired by place-based work that I am currently completing a PhD on it!

03

What brings you joy outside of work hours?

I have a love of all things Disney and Musical Theatre, even better when they are combined! We enjoy dressing up and having fun as a family, especially at parkrun. And I find a lot of joy in watching my children participate in the things that they love - such as dancing, playing music and performing in stage productions. When I have time, I love to read and am really enjoying reformer Pilates.

04

Where is your favourite place to visit in the Latrobe Valley?

The favourite place for our family is the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre. It is a beautiful venue that we get to enjoy as a whole family. My children are involved in musical theatre, and we enjoy supporting them backstage and helping bring local community theatre to life. Otherwise, you will find me at Agnes Brereton Reserve on a Saturday morning at Traralgon parkrun, which is a beautiful 5km run or walk that follows along the Traralgon Creek. And then, after our run we love breakfast and coffee at FoodCo. On Franklin.

What gives you hope for the future of health and wellbeing in Latrobe Valley?

What makes me hopeful for Latrobe Valley is that we have so many passionate and committed people in the community who all work together to make the region a healthier and happier place to live and grow. Together, we can make a difference.
